A little about me
It was 1985 that I took singing as a serious life choice! I had always loved to sing, but never in front of anyone.
My parents took me to see Elvis Presley in 74' at Sahara Tahoe ( I was 11)... after that I knew deep down that I wanted to do that when I grew up! I always had a knack for doing "voices", whatever the song was, I could copy it, "tone for tone". Singing "karaoke" was such a great way to learn a song!
It wasn't until I did my first CD project in 96', "This Game Of Love", that my producer Jerry Stucker told me, "You must find your own voice". With his help and much vocal practice, I did find that "Nicky D. sound!"
I was also learning how to play the game of the recording industry. How to get "airplay" and such. I got my version of the Rose Royce classic, "Wishing On A Star" on the mainstream airwaves (A/C Charts also!) I was on a small label who was promoting me and I was also paying a "promoter". I produced my second project with Jerry again in 2000. "A Song In My Heart". With my own songs and a few covers, I played that game and made the A/C Top 40 with my version of the 70's classic "Pillow Talk" (peaking @ #29!). I had learned much about "the biz" during those five years. I had always dreamed of "making it", never realizing that I already had made it! I have done what I absolutely love for the past 31 years! Entertaining people with the power of music! I don't have to be on TV or the radio to know that I am a success! I have performed at over 4,500 events all across the country! I specialize in weddings ( ver 1,500+ since 85'). I love the energy and joy of the day of a wedding! I not only keep the flow going with music, but I also emcee and make sure the details of the event run smoothly. I have been a " Solo" artist from the beginning of my career (singing with music tracks) and I have a list of over 450 songs!
Some Career History
From 2001-03' I did my One Man Show in Reno, Nevada at The Peppermill Hotel & Casino, where I was voted Best Lounge Act by Reno Magazine in 2002! Since 2006 I am also very proud to say I sing our National Anthem for The Oakland A's at least once a season! I am also very blessed to have many wonderful musicians I work with monthly at some wonderful bay area and Napa venues. "The Maestro" Danny Daniels and I have been a Duo act since 2004 (also we were voted Best Of The Bay, by Diablo Magazine in 2006 & 2007) Danny is also the Band Leader of our 8 piece band "Nicky D. & The extreme All~Stars" (with a brass section!) We specialize in soulful R & B and classic swing tunes! Whatever the event or venue calls for, we can make it extra special. I am very happy to express myself with the power of a song! I have always believed "Music speaks what words cannot". I am now a proud member of The Pittsburg Entertainment & Arts Hall Of Fame (inducted October 2015) When you hire Nicky D. Entertainment, as a Solo act, or Duo, Trio or full band, your event will truly be one to remember!
